Preben Fabricius & Jorgen Kastholm

Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm were two Danish designers who are known for their minimalist and functional approach to furniture design in the mid-20th century. The duo's work has become synonymous with the term 'Danish modern' and their designs are still highly sought after today.

Both Fabricius and Kastholm studied at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts and later worked together to create furniture pieces that were both functional and visually appealing. Their work is characterized by clean lines, geometric shapes, and a focus on functionality.

One of their most famous designs is the Scimitar chair, which features a sleek, curved backrest and a minimalist metal frame. The chair is often regarded as a masterpiece of Danish modern design and has been exhibited in several international design museums.

Another iconic design by Fabricius and Kastholm is the FK chair, which was inspired by the Bauhaus movement. The chair features a simple yet elegant design, with a tubular steel frame and a leather sling seat. The FK chair has won numerous design awards and is still considered a classic of modern furniture design.

In addition to their chairs, Fabricius and Kastholm also designed lighting fixtures, such as the semi-circular Scimitar pendant lamp, which was designed to complement their Scimitar chair.

Despite their relatively short-lived partnership, Fabricius and Kastholm left an indelible mark on the world of modern furniture design. Their work continues to be appreciated and celebrated by design enthusiasts around the world, and their legacy lives on through their timeless designs.
